Berinyuy, not her real name is a 20 years old girl who is recovering from trauma after being raped by men in military attire in early January 2022 in the locality of Wainama, Bui Division of the Northwest Region. The young lady who later stopped school as a result of the incident says she met shelter thanks to Sisters of Bali Nyonga, Nkumu Fed Fed who gave her the most necessary support when she was in dying needs of it.

"It was in the afternoon of that fateful day when I was home. I heard serious gunshots and minutes later,  men in military attire stormed our house and made their way into the house that was locked. And that was where I was raped. I cried and beg for help but there was no one to rescue or listen to my cry.    I decided to flee from Wainama to Bamenda in search of a shelter and thank God this NGO came to my aid", she said.

Question how she is coping since the day of the incident, the young lady who has gone back to school said seeing military vehicles just passing scares her and worst still is the male figure in front of her. Berinyuy is one out of the over 250 adults and young survivors currently benefitting from a training and empowerment project being executed by the Non-Governmental Organisation. she says after the training, she will open a Salon in addition to her educational ambition.
